The educational objectives for Mechanical Engineering program are designed to produce competent engineers who are ready to contribute effectively to the advancement of mechanical engineering causes and to accommodate the needs of the community. The present intake of this department is 120 in UG and 18 in PG (Thermal Engineering). The objectives of the department is to give students a broad exposure to all areas of Mechanical Engineering and mold them to be technically competitive and place them ahead in the race for quality employment and to enable them students to acquire practical experience in Mechanical Engineering discipline through design projects and opportunities to work with faculty in research.
Dr. Jitendra K. Pandey, Head of Department, Ph.D (Mechanical Engineering) and M.Tech (Industrial Design), is an excellent academician and highly motivated researcher. He has completed his PhD from M.A. National Institute of Technology, Bhopal under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) fellowship. Dr. Jitendra is awarded by the GOLD MEDAL for his innovative final year project (B.E) in year 2006. He is the member of various professional bodies like IIIE, Navi-Mumbai and IEI, Kolkata, India. He has written a book of international fame and has published over 20 quality research paper. He also deliver expert lecture on entrepreneurship and life management. His research area is Industrial Engineering & Management (IEM).He is actively steering research project and international journal as reviewer.
Prof. Mukesh K Shakya, Former GM (I), BHEL Bhopal. He completed his education from MANIT Bhopal Master of Technology (MTech), Materials Engineering 1979-1981,The Institute of Engineers Kolkata AMIE, Electrical Engineering Technologies/Technicians 1976-1977 and Madhav Institute of Technology and Science (MITS) Gwalior Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.), Mechanical Engineering 1968-1972. He has around 40 years of engineering and management experience in Navratna Company, BHEL in following fields-Mechanical Design of transformers for its optimisation using Finite Element method,Computer graphics for drawing computerization,Seismic (Earthquake) analysis of transformers,Headed Quality control and assurance division for all products of BHEL.
